    The primary responsibility of this position is to perform a variety of accounting duties surrounding the auditing, recording, and reporting of revenue, receivables, payables, and payroll at the skilled nursing and/or assisted living facility level. This position is also responsible for supervising accounting processes and staff to ensure accuracy.

    Responsibilities/Qualifications/Skillset

    • Functions as a liaison between the facility and the home office for all accounting related issues.
    • Provides orientation and training to facility staff in all areas of Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Payroll.
    • Ensures facilities meet close deadline.
    • Assists in providing coverage in buildings when the Business Office Manager position is open.
    • Assists the Administrator with the hiring process for new Business Office Managers, identifying critical qualities, and body of knowledge needed to be successful within the BOM position.
    • Ensures quarterly Medicare credit balance reports are submitted.
    • Completes monthly Aging and Out of Standard reports.
    • Performs monthly: review of close files, balance and reconcile cash, balance patient days, balance Accounts Receivable.
    • Collects and reviews monthly facility bad debt for cost reporting.
    • Conducts periodic facility financial audits including: Financial File Audits, Resident trust audits, Petty cash audits, HR audits, payroll audits, and other audits determined by need.
    • Reviews all write-off’s and adjustments prior to implementation by the facility Business Office Manager. Represents Business Office Manager in monthly collection/write-off reviews with Corporate counsel, COO, and Regional Administrator. 

     

    • Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in Accounting, Business Administration or a closely related field preferred.
    • Must have 3-5 years of experience in accounting/bookkeeping in a skilled nursing facility or multiple long term care facilities.
    • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures and their application to a variety of accounting transactions and problems, specifically to the reporting of revenue, receivables, and payables.
    • Knowledge and experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and HMO billing and claims processing.
    • Proven capability for effective use of computer systems including spreadsheet, word processing, and accounting/financial management systems.
    • Strong analytical skills and the ability to evaluate and solve problems with minimal assistance.
    • Able to effectively change through development of interpersonal relationships with Facility Business Office Managers, Facility Administrators, and Regional Directors.
    • Able to prepare a variety of complex financial statements, reports, and analyses.
    • High degree of leadership, teambuilding, and motivational skills.
    • Must be willing and able to travel within assigned region(s) and to the home office.
    • Must be willing and able to attend various meetings and seminars as requested or required.
    • Able to train and orient a wide variety of personalities, skill levels, and learning methods.
