    The Compliance Specialist will assist with implementing the Avamere Family of Companies Compliance Program and will conduct Compliance Monitoring activities including auditing and investigating the Avamere Family of Company’s operations to ensure compliance with all requirements. The Compliance Specialist will be responsible for overseeing continuous projects to assure operational compliance with regulations.

     

    As a Compliance Specialist, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.

    Responsibilities/Qualifications/Skillset

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Performs administrative support and provides technical assistance for the compliance programs.
    • Conduct program compliance audits.
    • Conduct risk assessments.
    • Develop and implement assessment/audit tools.
    • Assist in investigating inquiries which may relate to erroneous billing and coding services.
    • Assist in the development and revision of compliance and privacy training materials.
    • Facilitate compliance and privacy trainings.
    • Review regulatory websites for updates.
    • Participate in quarterly compliance committee meetings.
    • Create and maintain meeting minutes and agendas for compliance meetings.
    • Gather, review and analyze data collected from audits and prepare audit reports for program and executive leadership review.
    • Read and apply regulations and laws.
    • Work closely with department directors to develop and implement compliance activities.
    • Participate in the development and implementation of compliance policies and procedures and coordinate policy and procedure review, archiving, document control, identification, review and posting of current policies on website.
    • Perform all related clerical and administrative duties.
    • Manage and perform OIG, EPLS, Medicaid exclusion data base and criminal background checks.
    • Perform related duties and responsibilities as requested.
    • Promotes the Avamere Family of Companies.
    • Manages work time wisely.
    • Maintains confidentiality with staff, supervisors, residents, and family members.
    • Works well with others and promotes teamwork.
    • Able to meet assigned deadlines.

    Specific Requirements

    • Must possess Associate degree in Business, accounting, nursing, healthcare adminsitration or related field.
    • Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
    • Must have at least 3 years of experience in HIPAA, plus business office management, internal auditing, information systems, or the experience equivalent; preferably in a Skilled Nursing Facility or a related healthcare setting.
    • Experienced in the use of Microsoft Office/Office 365 including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Must have excellent customer service, organizational, observation and reasoning skills.
    • Must have strong problem-solving skills.
    • Must be customer service oriented.
    • Must be a self-starter, quick learner, and able to work under minimum supervision.
    • Able to prepare and maintain accurate records and files, with attention to detail, deadlines and accuracy.
    • Knowledge of commonly used terminology, concepts, practices and procedures in the medical field; experience with medical records or electronic records highly preferred.
    • Ability to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
    • Ability to communicate ideas and instructions clearly and concisely, verbally, or in written format.
    • Experienced in information systems and electronic records.
    • Must maintain a high standard of confidentiality and honesty.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, tactfully handle delicate and confidential situations, deal with adverse situations and complaints in a positive and professional manner.
    • Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and dependable vehicle for transportation.
    • Must be able to travel locally and within the Western Region as needed.
    • Must present a professional appearance and reputation to represent Avamere Health Services.

    Working Conditions

    • Works in office areas and its premises.
    • Moves intermittently during working hours.
    • Is seated at least 50% of the time.
    • Use of computers at least 50% of the time.
    • Is subject to frequent interruptions.

    Physical and Sensory Requirements

    • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
    • Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of [25] pounds to a minimum height of [5] feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight for a minimum distance of [50] feet.
