    The primary responsibility of the Staff Interpreter is to provide American Sign Language (ASL)/English interpretation services to meet the needs of Avamere at Chestnut Lane.  This position works in accordance with residents' needs, state regulations and Avamere policies and procedures.

     

    The primary responsibility of the Community Relations Coordinator is to support the Life Enrichment Director with volunteer services and community events for this facility.

    Responsibilities/Qualifications/Skillset

    Staff Interpreter Responsibilities

    • Provide interpretation services appropriate for the language and the cultural background of Deaf, Hard of Hearing, DeafBlind, or hearing residents and staff including ASL, English and tactile ASL.
    • Coordinates the work of staff within interpreting role to ensure compliance with Avamere standards and policies
    • Coordinates with outside agencies to secure additional interpreters as needed
    • Works effectively in teams with other sign language interpreters
    • Ensure compliance and understanding of all regulations regarding residents’ rights

    Community Relations Coordinator Responsibilities

    • Work with facility staff to determine volunteer needs, recruit volunteers from within the community, and assign volunteers accordingly.
    • Train, supervise and schedule volunteers; keeping accurate records of their service hours.
    • Promote volunteer recognition in the facility and coordinate an annual recognition event.
    • Work with the Life Enrichment Director to create monthly calendars for Sunday services and other special events on a monthly basis.
    • Coordinate a variety of relevant programs for the facility, and establish and carry out marketing plans for events.
    • Handles calls from prospective residents and their families in a professional manner. Enters all information from the calls into Avamere computer system. Works closely with Executive Director for resident contracts at time of move-in.
    • Create and uphold an atmosphere of warmth, patience, enthusiasm, and a calm and cheerful environment.

     Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Must possess a current food worker/handler’s card in this state.
    • Knowledge and experience interacting with residents of this nature.
    • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and must be flexible and adaptable.
    • Must present a professional appearance and reputation to represent Avamere and this facility.
    • Must work effectively as a team member and with management staff, and must be able to work independently and/or unsupervised.
    • Must be able to read, write and speak the English language, and possess strong and effective communication skills.
    • Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
    • Must be fluent in ASL
